Formation of CEMCOT

The worldwide awareness on the environmental issues adversely impacting human lives on a day-to-day basis is gaining momentum.
Chennai Environmental Management Company of Tanners, CEMCOT, was formed as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), was incorporated as a not for profit company, registered under the Companies Act,1956 on 15th July, 2008 in Chennai. CEMCOT was promoted by the following six Companies, operating Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs), in Tamailnadu with the avowed object of implementing certain infrastructure projects, namely, establishment, operation and maintenance of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems under Indian Leather Development Programme (ILDP) Scheme of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) now Department for Promotion of Policy and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India (GoI) and with support of Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN):- .

  • Ranipet SIDCO Finished Leather Effluent Treatment Co. Ltd. (CETP-SIDCO-I), Ranipet
  • SIPCOT & SIDCO Phase II Entrepreneur Finished Leather Effluent Treatment Co. (P) LTd. (CETP-SIDCO-II), Ranipet
  • Talco Pernambut Tannery Effluent Treatment Co. Ltd. (CETP-PERTEC), Pernambut
  • Talco Dindigul Tanners Enviro Control System Pvt. Ltd. (CETP-DINTEC), Dindigul

ZLD system in the six CETPs operated by the above companies were established by upgradation, addition and modernisation of the existing CETPs.
