SIPCOT & SIDCO PHASE II ENTERPRENEUR FINISHED LEATHER EFFLUENT TREATMENT CO. (P) LTD (SIDCO Phase II)
The Common Effluent Treatment Plant in this cluster is managed by SIPCOT & SIDCO Phase II Entrepreneur Finished Leather Effluent Treatment Company Pvt. Ltd., in short SIDCO-II CETP, a company promoted by 40 tanners who are its members. This company is managed by a BoD, drawn from its members. Mr. R. Srinivasaraghavan, a tanner of the area, is currently the Managing Director of the company.

- CETP upgradation with a new mechanical screen, modification of equalizations tank with new mixing system, new mechanisms and bridges for primary & secondary clarifiers, mechanical sludge dewatering, softening to remove hardness and improvement in monitoring.
- RO system: Pre-treatment filtration, organic scavenger, ultra-filtration, two stage reverse osmosis and automated control system for the same.
- Mechanical Evaporation of RO reject: Five effect evaporation with thermal vapour re-compression system and pusher centrifuge for separation of salts.
- Salt disposal yard: special disposal unit to store generated salt for two years at full capacity.
- Recovered water conveyance system: overhead tank and piping system with metering for conveying the recovered water back to individual tanneries. Individual tanneries are providing storage tanks with more than one day storage capacity within their premises.
The turnkey implementation of the project was awarded to Hyderabad based Ramky Infrastructure Ltd based on a two stage competitive tendering. The contract value was Rs. 16.5 crores and the total project cost including administrative charges was Rs. 17.3 Crores.
After handing over of the Zero Liquid Discharge system to SIDCO-I CETP
The project had been completed in March 2013. The plant has been in continuous operation since March 2013. This upgraded plant had been formally handed over to CETP and contractor for O&M in October 2014.
Post handing over, some supplementary activities were also taken up in the CETP which included an additional mixer in equalization tank, the second filter press and new RO membranes.
Ongoing upgradation
Upgradation of ZLD system in SIDCO-II CETP
In 2018, SIDCO-II CETP had submitted a proposal to DPIIT for upgradation of the ZLD system and reduction of O&M cost under the IFLADP Scheme. The following components were approved with 70% funding by DPIIT and balance to be equally shared by the Industries Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the beneficiary CETP.
