After successful implementation of the six projects, it is foreseen that the entire tanning sector will have been covered by ZLD systems.
This would result in complete environmental security of tanning industry on the one hand and total prevention of discharge of tannery waste into the surface on the other.
It is believed that in due course the soil and ground water damaged earlier due to past discharge of waste water high in TDS will be recuperated.
A positive contribution of these projects will be considerable reduction in extraction of ground water for tanning purposes. When all 14 CETPs are covered by ZLDS, more than 22000 cubic meter of clean water would recovered
from the waste water and the daily extraction requirement will be come down to about 1500 cubic meter as against the current 24000 cubic meter.
